Disney Plus Features Chadwick Boseman’s “Black Panther” in his Remembrance

Marvel’s “Black Panther” became a part of the top 5 movies to stream in the US, after the demise of Chadwick Boseman, the lead star in the title role. 

Disney+ paid tribute to Boseman by featuring the film on the top carousel window with the message “In remembrance of Chadwick Boseman.”

Disney+ took to twitter to share their grievance, “Our hearts are broken, and our thoughts are with Chadwick Boseman’s family. Your legacy will live on forever. Rest In Peace.”

Chadwick Boseman was under treatment for colon cancer since 2016. He succumbed to his illness and died at the age of 43. Leaving behind a legacy of a prominent icon and the first black superhero for the Marvel franchise. 

Boseman’s blockbuster title was on the top 5 charts for Apple and Amazon along with it’s feature on Disney Plus. The surge went for Marvel’s Black Panther and other movies starring Boseman. Claiming a place on no. 4  was “42”, a biopic for baseball player Jackie Robinson played by Boseman.

Disney Plus acquired Black Panther in March 2020, after it’s a prior licensing deal with Netflix expired. It was the first movie to have an almost all-black cast.  The first superhero movie ever to receive nomination for the best picture and multiple Oscars.
