The one who began it all. Toy Story remains a phenomenal technical achievement and a perfect blueprint in every way for all subsequent Pixar films: start with a slew of memorable characters (Buzz, Woody, Slinkie, Potato Head, Rex, and more); add a markedly sinister villain; and finish with a well-rounded, awe-inspiring adventure, and you’ve got the makings of an enduring classic.

Few movies can depict the pure spirit of childhood without starring a child as the primary character, but Pixar achieved just that with Toy Story in 1995.

The film’s amusing rivalry between longstanding toy favorite Woody and dazzling newbie Buzz Lightyear was not only entertaining, but it also tackled issues of friendship, family, and, eventually, growing up. This film is one of the best kids’ movies on Disney Plus.
